My full name is Jase Paul Wells.

At one point Jase was a nickname for Jason, but now it’s not.

I was born on October 4. So was Alicia Silverstone.

I was born in California, but I mostly grew up in North Dakota.

I don’t talk like the people in the movie Fargo, but I knew plenty who did.

Supposedly I flushed my windbreaker jacket down a toilet when I was a little kid. I don’t see how that is even possible.

I have a younger sister. I’m sorry I terrorized her as a kid.

I have a ten-year-younger brother named Jason. When we were growing up, the family called me “Big” and him “Little.” Now, he’s the bigger guy (and we're talking USMC muscle) but he still gets called “Little” when he’s around me.

I attended West Fargo High School, Moorhead State University (now Minnesota State University Moorhead), and Cal State Hayward (now Cal State East Bay).

I never failed a class, but I came close in Phy-Ed and Calculus II.

I have a B.S. in C.S., and I was graduated cum laude.

I have one earring piercing and two tattoos.

I have two big scars on my back from lung surgeries when I was a teenager.

I’ve had a total of three surgeries in my life. The third was to remove a kidney stone.

The best thing about being in the hospital? Morphine. The kind you get when you press a button. Second best: the warm blankets.

I’m very squeamish. I can’t watch while the doctor draws blood, and I once fainted in 4th Grade Health class while watching a film strip about burns.

I’m also afraid of spiders. I can’t look at one without getting a chill down my spine.

I blush very easily. I’m talking beet red.

My favorite color is blue. Or red. It really depends.

My favorite foods are crêpes, chocolate, Chewy Spree, and Paprika Pringles.

My favorite beverages are Fanta, Vittell, Champagne, and Chopin Cosmopolitans.

I mostly wear clothes from Banana Republic and J. Crew.

I wear boxers and the occasional boxer-brief.

I didn’t own a suit until I was 34 years old.

Shortly thereafter, I started going to the gym regularly and soon my suit was too big to fit.

I sweat a lot when I work out. A whole lot. I’m sure you wanted to know that.

I like running, but I’m not gung-ho about it. I’ve ran a few small races (5K and 10K) and finished with respectable times. But I’m admittedly a fair-weather runner — I can’t stand wind, rain, or cold.

I love crossword puzzles and Sudoku. Sometimes I cheat and look at the answers, though.

I am gay. And happy, too.

I came out of the closet when I was 20 years old.

My family was very supportive and loving. They still are.

I am technically a Kinsey 5 due to one past incident of confusion.

My partner is Michael.

We’ve been together since 1993.

Actually, we were legally married for a few months in 2004 when San Francisco performed 4,037 same-sex marriages. We were couple number 100.

Later that year, the California Supreme Court officially nullified our marriage.

Our four-legged “kid” is a yellow Labrador Retriever named Sasha.

Not only do we give her presents, but we also give presents to others and say they’re from Sasha.

There are no human kids planned in our future. And since there are no other male children to carry on the Wells family name (my brother Jason has a different last name), the surname ends with me.

I am anal retentive about punctuation. One of my pet peeves is the improper use of apostrophes. Another is when people use a hyphen where there should be an en or em dash.

My ideal vacation is lounging by the pool in Maui.

But I also love Paris.

I’ve flown First Class three times in my life. I wish I could do it all the time. But then, who doesn’t?

My favorite super heroes are Green Lantern and Wonder Woman.

My favorite music group is still Army of Lovers, even though they were never very popular in the U.S. and they’re pretty much all but forgotten by now.

When I walk to work listening to my iPhone, I usually hum the lyrics and step in time to the beat.

I’m a big fan of V and hope it returns to the screen someday.

I have an Amazon.com Wish List of all the stuff I want.
